GeneralDescription :

Alumina Ceramic Foam Filters mainly forfiltration of aluminium and aluminium alloys in foundries and cast houses. Theyare the advanced products for secondary refining. With their excellentresistance to attack and corrosion from molten aluminum, they can effectivelyremove inclusions, reduce trapped gas and provide laminar flow, and then thefiltered metal is significantly cleaner. Cleaner metal results inhigher-quality castings, less scrap, and fewer inclusion defects, all of whichcontribute to bottom-line profit.

Alumina Ceramic Foam Filters(CFF-AL)Gasketing:

CFF-AL is equipped with a gasket on theedges. The gasket assures the proper and

tight position of the filter within thefilter box. There are different types of gasket

available, eg. ceramic fiber gasket etc. Also you can choose CFF-AL without gasket.

Instructions for use

1. Selectthe suitable Ceramic Foam Filter.

1) Select the suitable PPI according to thefluidity and purity of the metal flow, and

the material, weight and required qualityof the cast.

The choice of porosity depends on the gradeof cleanness, which should be achieved. Commonly, PPI 20 or PPI 30 is used in adaily production, as these porosities offer a good relation between filtrationcapacity and filtration efficiency. For casting with very high demands onmechanical strength and/ or surface appearance (e.g. For automotiveapplications), the use of PPI 40~60 filters may be recommended.

2)Because of the spoiler function and the“Filter cake effect” of the ceramic foam

filter, the section area of the foam filteris requested to be the 2-4 times to the

section area of the runner pipe. We can getthe section area of the ceramic foam filter

according to the volume of the metal flow, the filtering flux of the filter and the

section area of the runner pipe, then wecan determine the size.

2. Warmup the filter before using, air-proof the filter into the filter box thoroughlyto make sure that all of the liquid aluminum flow through the filter, percolated gross shouldn't exceed the limit listed in the chart.

3. Ifthe liquid contains too much dross, more pieces will be needed or to reduce thepercolated gross to adjust.
